Balanced Budget for a Thriving Toledo

Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz has worked tirelessly to ensure Toledo’s budget reflects both fiscal discipline and the city’s long-term growth priorities. In 2025, Toledo passed a $1 billion operating and capital budget while maintaining a $60 million in reserves. This is a testament to the collaboration between the Administration and City Council. The budget was passed unanimously, with a commitment to investing in the city’s future while addressing immediate community needs.

Historic Grant Wins

Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz and his team are winning grant money for Toledo at a historic rate. Over the last two years, Toledo has competed and won as much in federal grants as any city in the United States; on par with New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago on a per capita basis.

Rainy Day Fund

Mayor Kapszukiewicz has also grown Toledo’s Rainy Day fund to 15x larger than it was just 10 years ago.

Improved Bond Rating

This fiscal responsibility has resulted in the first bond rating increase for Toledo in over 14 years to a grade of “A”, which will save money for Toledo taxpayers, and reflects Wall Street’s confidence in the management of the city’s finances and the future of Toledo.

In his final term, Mayor Kapszukiewicz will continue building a thriving economy where businesses can grow, new jobs are created, and Toledo continues to be a top destination for investment and innovation. As we continue to move Toledo forward, the Mayor will work tirelessly to ensure our city is ready for the opportunities of tomorrow.
