Keeping Toledo Safe: Investing in Public Safety

With Mayor Kapszukiewicz, Toledo has made historic investments in public safety to ensure our neighborhoods remain safe and strong.

As the son of a retired TPD officer, Mayor Kapszukiewicz knows firsthand the importance of public safety, and the risks police officers and firefighters take every day to protect our community. To meet these challenges, Mayor Kapszukiewicz has continued to increase investment in Toledo’s public safety in every year of his administration.

Growing the size of the police force– The number of Toledo Police officers continues to rise, with 45 additional officers joining the force just this year. For over two decades before becoming mayor, the size of the Toledo Police Department had been steadily declining. Since taking office in 2018, the size of the police department has grown year after year.

In addition to bolstering law enforcement, Mayor Kapszukiewicz remains committed to tackling the root causes of violence. His administration has continued to win grants to support intervention programs that work directly with at-risk individuals and community organizations to prevent crime before it happens.

Public safety remains a top priority for the Mayor, and he will continue working every day to ensure Toledo remains a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.
